Richard Rives verses Paul

May 2013

Another recent email from rives pits his logic against Paul who wrote the book of Romans.

Here is rives email.

“All The World Guilty Before God by Richard Rives”

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. – Romans 3:19-20″

” The words of Paul as found in Romans chapter 3 are many times presented as evidence that believers may disregard some of our Creator’s commandments. ”

” That is not what the apostle is saying at all. Paul is saying – there is no law we can keep that will save us. ”

” We are told that: “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” Romans 3:23-26″

” At the very end of Romans Chapter 3 Paul concludes with a question and then provides the answer: Do we then make void the law through faith?”

” What do you say? Does your answer agree with that of the Apostle Paul?”

” Earnestly contending for the faith once delivered to the saints; I’m Richard Rives with Just the Facts.”

Is rives right? No of course not. Please read Romans 3:1-31 it is obvious that
Paul was referring the excuses of Jews having the WHOLE law of Moses were better than the Gentiles but in reality they can be as unrighteous as the unsaved Gentiles.

The book of Romans easily shows that our righteousness comes from Jesus and not keeping the law as a morality or salvation (Depending on which group you read).

Other passages discuss about the Law of Moses and how it has been fulfilled through Jesus.

Romans 4:1-21

Romans 5:1-21

Romans 13:8-10

Galatians 3:1-29

Galatians 5:1-26

Hebrews 10:1-39

So in other words if the teachings of both Jesus & Paul are against rives then why believe him or follow him? He is simply a deluded man quite possibly going to hell in his sins.
