According to the wnd story from 2001.

“A. Jan Marcussen, a Seventh-day Adventist pastor in Illinois, is starting with $50,000 of his own money if someone can produce “a verse from the Holy Bible showing that God commands us to keep holy the first day of the week” – Sunday – “instead of the seventh day” – Saturday – “as is commanded in the Bible.”

————————————————————-

The issue:

Does God require a specific day for Christians to worship him? The simple answer is NO. God doesn’t require Christians to keep Saturday Sabbath or Sunday.

==============================

How did I come to that realization?

Lets start with the Sabbath. Saturday Sabbath as spoken of in the Holy Bible, is easily found.

1 Saturday Sabbath was for Israel. Please read:

Exodus 20:1-17

Exodus 31:13-18

So I must again publicly ask those in the sda ‘church’ if Sabbath was for Israel why are you keeping it? You are not Commanded by Christ to keep it at all.

The Teachings of Jesus clearly speak highly of Saturday Sabbath but donot COMMAND for we his non Jewish followers to keep the Sabbath. IF any sda follower were to simply read on what Jesus did on the Sabbath and said about the Sabbath in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John they might see that Jesus did not Command that day as a day of rest or made it a ‘mark’ for those who follow Theonomist philosophy.

EXAMPLES:

Matthew 12:1-13

Mark 2:23-28

Mark 3:1-6

Mark 6:1-3

Luke 4:16-30

Luke 6:1-11

Luke 13:10-17

Luke 14:1-6

John 5:1-47

John 7:1-30

John 9:1-41

Jesus as a Jew kept the Law of Moses of which Sabbath is part of and unless a sda follower can clearly show in the Bible that Jesus did not satisfy the Law their faith in sda doctrine is meaningless.

Jesus kept Gods Sabbath the Gospels are clear on that and yet broke the religious traditions of the leadership his fellow Jews followed.

IF sda followers were actually honest with themselves and the public they deceive they donot keep the Sabbath as Jesus did nor replicate his miracles on the Sabbath. All they have to do is read up in the Gospels HOW & WHY Jesus kept the Sabbath. But they won’t.

===========================

2 Sunday is not Commanded as a day or rest or Worship. It is simply a day a Christian can use to rest and Worship God on.

Some sda followers might think that my above statement would ‘back them up’ with their claims. However I can disprove their claims as nothing but foolishness.

Sunday is only a day a Christian can chose to worship God on and there is no doctrine against it. sda followers ALWAYS neglect the following Scriptures that tear down eg whites teachings.

Examples.

Acts 15:1-31. The DISCIPLES OF JESUS decided by COUNCIL that Gentiles did not need to keep the Ten Commandments or the rest of the law of Moses.

Romans 13:8-11 Gives us a understanding that Caring for our fellow Christians and non Christians satisfies the Law.

Romans 14:1-7 Discusses weak Christians verses strong. Notice only weak Christians worry about a specific day and eating herbs.

Galatians 3:8-14 The law of Moses does not justify sda followers.

===============================================

Why do I doubt marcussens claims and sda claims? Because marcussen clearly says in this article:

“Marcussen condemns the change in day of observance.”

“It’s the greatest hoax of all time, foisted upon the world for hundreds and hundreds of years,” he says. His zeal on the matter reflects his belief that citizens of the United   States and other countries will be forced to choose sides on the issue in the so-called “end time” mentioned in Scripture.”

“Sunday worship is the mark of the Papacy’s authority,” Marcussen writes in his book. “Sunday worship is the ‘mark of the beast!’” Yet he insists he is not attacking anyone’s faith, but rather trying to lead people to the Bible, Jesus, and eventually heaven.”

“I love all these ministers who teach falsehoods,” Marcussen says. “Many are honest – they’re not all crooks – they believe Sunday is God’s day … this offer will help them find the truth.”

“Marcussen expects his challenge to be eye-opening for many who never thought about the issue, and he thinks it will spark serious global attention. “The impact of this is going to be like an atomic bomb, it will mushroom all over the world.”

==========================================

The ideological and theological and even doctrinal problem is that marcussen and many thousands of sda ministers are not following God but a dead woman’s writings. eg white was wrong about Sabbath and as I’ve shown through the Bible Sabbath was simply a day for Israel to rest on and it was not intended for gentiles to keep.

Sunday as one day is not the mark of the beast and the Biblical proof of that is found in Revelation 13:16-18. If the mark is similar to a microchip / credit card and has nothing to do with a specific day then sda doctrine is wrong! Keeping Sunday as your day of worship is not satanic. sda followers obviously donot do any research in the modern ‘occult church’ because Sunday is not even mentioned in their ‘holy days’ and yet every wiccan website makes bold claims of keeping a ‘Sabbath’.

(Chew on that eg white followers)

Sunday was never ‘COMMANDED’ to replace Saturday Sabbath AND Saturday Sabbath was NEVER COMMANDED by Jesus or the Disciples for a Christians sole day of rest and worship.

Meanwhile…

I noticed that since 2001 that there has been no responses by a Jan marcussen or those under his employ about interested persons responses nor any printed information if his challenge has answered.

IF his challenge is so important it should not only be made public by his ministry or church to the greater Christian community and they should be willing to accept personal responses via email as well as written responses he asked for in his article… but so far nothing.

Perhaps his challenge is meaningless because Christians have better things to do with their time than worry over Sabbath vs. Sunday or other meaningless issues that sda followers alone worry about.

The only known refutation of marcussen’s challenge has not even given a known response to this refutation.

marcussen’s lack of research and willingness to receive answers beyond a PO box simply means to me he is grasping at ideological straws and not educated about the very Bible he supposedly preaches from. But instead he educates his fellow cultists through sda theology, ideology and philosophy.

Of which are not Christianity but a dead woman’s un-Biblical theory.

IF sda followers actually bothered to read up in all four gospels on what Jesus did and HOW he kept the Sabbath the only available ‘ammo’ for them is “Jesus is our example” but even then that statement is either a lie or ignorance because in my studies about sda doctrines it is not Christ whom sda followers learn from it is eg whites foolish writings they consider godly.

As I’ve pointed out in my blog… Why aren’t sda followers actually following Jesus who is the REAL reason for Christianity in the first place. As God Jesus knew the most important portions of the Law of Moses and the Gospels make that clear.

Great Commandments in the law of Moses from the mouth of Jesus.

Matthew 22:35-40

Mark 12:28-34

Luke 10:26-29

And notice marcussen and other sda followers Sabbath is not included in them!

So to conclude.

Marcussen and other sda followers are in the wrong. And they have been that way for over 100 years. Saturday Sabbath will not save them. Saturday Sabbath is not a ‘mark’ of God for gentiles or Jews. Saturday Sabbath was NEVER COMMANDED by Jesus or the Disciples for gentiles to keep as a day of rest or worship.

Keeping Saturday Sabbath is a choice and sda followers are no better or worse than myself when I keep Sunday.

Jan Marcussen. I will now address you directly. STOP trying to judaize a Christian such as myself and use your time to bring the un-Christian into Jesus Kingdom. You have better things to do with your time than to bring down fellow Christians due to eg whites writings.

Either follow Jesus and accept his teachings or follow eg white and wind up in hell. It’s your choice marcussen and those of you in the sda ‘church’.
