Is the Sabbath for mankind? My reply to those in the SDA movement who claim that humanity should keep the Sabbath.

Jan 2014

In the 7 years or so I have been blogging I get all sorts of visitors to my blog. A recent visitor call himself ‘bp’ decided to leave a comment here is just a small portion of it relevant to this post today.

” I think you missed a few texts. For one thing, Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for man” (Mk. 2:27). Thus He made the Sabbath for Gentiles, unless you are proposing that Gentiles aren’t men.”

As I pointed out a while ago this is another example of blatant SDA eisegesis.

The Jewish Sabbath in our Bibles actually started in Exodus 20:8-11 and further instructions about Sabbath are found in Exodus 31:12-17.

The Bible itself tells us who the Law of Moses is for & that includes Saturday Sabbath.

“And God spake all these words saying, I AM the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the land of bondage…” (KJV)- Exodus 20:1-2

IF the Sabbath was for the peoples under Moses but did not include Gentile nations then or now… then keeping the Sabbath or the rest of the Law of Moses are for those who wish to live under a Theocracy.

No where in the Torah or Christian Bible does God require Sabbath keeping for Non Jews. And it is horrifically Un-Christian for those to think that their doctrine replaces Jewish Israel so that they somehow must keep the Law of Moses.

After all… if the entire Law of Moses is 613 Commandments and are not supposed to be torn apart by an individuals ideology then the problem is blatant… some folks just want to believe in the poor teachings of a dead woman whose teachings go against the very Word she preached so long ago.
